These absolutely amazing homes were built in the early 1920's through the 1940's along the California coast in Carmel. Built by Hugh Comstock, he used native chalk rock, wood, redwood shakes and hand carved timber and tile. Inspiration came from children's book illustrator Sir Arthur Rackham, which he was fascinated with as a boy.
There are many more of these unique homes, but they are difficult to find on-line. However, if you are ever in Carmel these homes are easy to locate.
